The women who made me - the Chippenham story

How wonderful to have Lucy Whitfield - September's speaker - comment so generously about her evening with Pewsham Belles last Thursday. She said on Facebook: "Lovely evening talking all things women's history with Pewsham Belles WI - telling stories of laundries, cloth mills, lunatics, multiple births and colourful criminals. And they had really taken the #tellmeaboutyourgranny project by the horns. Thank you so much ladies." It was a fascinating evening and Lucy has sent us the link to one of the stories she featured, the feisty Mary Fairlie. You can find more fascinating stories on her Women who Made Me project website, which also features some of the varied Chippenham tales she's un

Card making for the Sunshine Fund

It was a lovely relaxed evening with the Crafty Crew last night where we made cards using some of the huge stash donated by Ginny. The blank cards Diane found at The Works turned out to be good quality and just the job for our endeavours. If you look closely there's a sneak peek of the work in progress on some of the designs we've donated to the Sunshine Fund.

September Book Club: All Together Now

We had a great evening with the Book Club. Lots of lovely debate, some of it even about the book! We all agreed it was a nice, easy read and that any similarity with Chippenham or choirs to which we belong is pure coincidence. We scored All Together Now 7 out of 10, with pretty consistent scores this time. Our next read is How Hard Can It Be by Allison Pearson and we'll meet on October 9th.
