June Meeting: Down on the farm

We had a great time visiting Carolyne's farm for a walk, with plenty of time with the animals, followed by sausages and cake. Pauline was particularly taken with the donkeys, as you can see. A great evening was had by all, and those who couldn't make it were green with envy! Elsewhere in June we had a stall at the Chippenham Family Fun Day in John Coles Park. It was rather hot on the day, so sadly lots of residents chose to go elsewhere. The Crafty Crew's attendance also suffered in the heat, but they still managed to produce some lovely felted animals and hearts. The Theatre Group had a double bill of visits and thoroughly enjoyed Austentatious at The Pound in Corsham, and Shirley Valentine in Swindon. The Book Group chose The Guernsey Literary Potato Peel Pie Society. As well as its unusual title the story was told in a quite different way in the form of a series of letters which worked surprisingly well. It highlighted a lesser-known WWII story; the occupation of the Channel Islands. It's one of the most popular books the group has read so far.

Several members of Pewsham Belles joined Lockside WI for an enjoyable afternoon canal trip and cream tea from Bradford on Avon. Finally, we've had our first WI baby! Leuan Louie James greeted the world at 11:05 on Saturday, June 17th, weighing in at 7lb 3oz. He has since graced one of our monthly meetings and an Our Town walk!
