We had a lively discussion of The Secret Life of Bees. and thought it was an engaging read with interesting characters and plot, though some felt the central character's age was a little off beam in the way she told the story (it's written from a child's viewpoint). The book highlighted how far we've come with racial equality in the past 50 years, but also how far we still have to go today. We rated this one 7.5 out of 10. Our next book is Gill Paul's The Secret Wife which we'll review on Tuesday, February 20th. We've also set the dates for the next few months, they are:
Wednesday 14th March
Tuesday 10th April
Tuesday 8th May
Tuesday 12th June
Tuesday 10th July
