It was a fantastic turnout for our first meeting of the year and what a great way to beat those January blues in the shape of Lis Hazell from the Tuneless Choir! Everyone was encouraged to join in this fun session of well-known numbers, and by the end of the evening everyone had left their inhibitions about singing in public well behind them. Quite a few Pewsham Belles already belong to Lis's choir, so we had a further insight into what they get up to... with kazoo-filled instrumental sections and even some choreography. Unfortunately, I wasn't quite quick enough to catch their kazoo technique during Don't Stop Me Know, so you'll have to make do with their special polo shirts instead. Thanks to all who came, especially our 12 new members and everyone who helped to make them feel welcome. We look forward to seeing you at future meetings and in our clubs! Elsewhere this month, the book club discussed Eleanor Oliphant is Really Fine and the Crafty Crew learned how to make pom poms in bulk for any projects they wish to pursue this year. The Creative Writers made a start on our entry into NFWI's A Year in Your WI - thanks to everyone who contributed to the project on Thursday - we will reveal the results soon. And in a couple of last minute additions to January's diary, the quiz team found out how much they don't know about horses at the George Veterinary Clinic's quiz and the theatre group enjoyed an evening at the cinema to see Encore's Everybody's Talking About Jamie. We also received a nice thank you from Doorway for our massive collection of food, toiletries and notebooks at our Christmas party. The Flexi Club also discovered how big the teacakes are served at Coffee #1 in Chippenham. Don't be fooled by the ones on display, they're HUGE!
