October Book Club: Old Baggage

We had a great evening at The Three Crowns with the Book Club, where we discussed Old Baggage by Lissa Evans. For once we were nearly all in agreement about this book, unfortunately we found it was a bit of a disappointment. The story didn't really go anywhere and it didn't do justice to what looked like a strong, interesting central character at the outset. Overall we only scored it 5 out of 10.

We also had lots of interesting chat about the Wiltshire Library eread, The Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared, which will be reviewed at the library on Thursday. Jonas Jonasson's quirky and amusing novel proved a more enjoyable read for those taking part. It'll be interesting to see if other Chippenham readers have the same view and to compare the discussion with how we run our own book club.

The next book is The Forgotten Village by Lorna Cook. There aren't many library copies so everyone will need to source their own copy.
