What a night we had for our first meeting of the decade! We welcomed our new members, voted on resolutions, and gave out lots of information. It was great to see new members finding out more about our wonderful selection of clubs and we look forward to welcoming them at February's meetings. The evening's highlight was the tap dancing class with Jayne from Pewsham Dance. She had just the right plinky plonky music to get us in the mood and plenty of proper tap shoes for us to borrow and generate those all important authentic clippy cloppy noises. The video Kim put on our Facebook page shows lots of smiling faces and brilliant tapping. 💃 Jayne holds tap and ballet classes for adults on Mondays and Wednesdays at Pewsham Community Centre. See their bookings information for class times, or contact Jayne via her Facebook page.
We also have news of two new clubs. From February the Happy Hookers will meet at Gill's for all things crochet on the second Wednesday of the month, and our walking netball activity goes from strength to strength with a second club now meeting at Derry Hill on Mondays. Carla also had news of Chippenham Lasses success, who won 3, drew 1 and lost 1 at the recent tournament in Clifton. Well done everyone. Elsewhere this month the Book Club reviewed Dear Mrs Bird and found it was one of their most popular reads so far. They also met for coffee one Saturday to distribute February's read, Birdcage Walk by Helen Dunmore.
The Crafty Crew tried their hand at notebook making and will be getting this activity ready for February's main meeting. Staying with craft, Gill enjoyed Wiltshire's machine applique workshop one Saturday, which resulted in the pictured charming sheep! In addition quite a few Belles enjoyed January's #30daysketchbook challenge, a Facebook group with daily prompts to get the arty juices flowing.
The Writing and Storytelling group got going again with Wendy introducing us to Story Cubes as a new way of generating ideas for a story. It'll be interesting to hear the results next month. Diane introduced us to a new venue for Flexi Club, Cafe Spero on Wood Lane. It's held at the Chippenham Christian Fellowship, who've worked hard to create a great cafe atmosphere in their church. Good coffee, deliciously squishy cakes, and good value meals also helped! To quote Arnie, "We'll be back".
