Annual Meetings can be fun - Part 2!

... And then the fun really started!

For some reason Fiona and Clare weren't too confident about their joint secretaries report and so...

... they enlisted the help of two of the WI's most 'experienced secretaries' Daphne Picklethwaite and Edna Brownbottom, who delivered the report in “pass the parcel” form and taught us the new version of Jerusalem aka Jerusalema. If you don't believe this, there's video evidence of us dancing in our Facebook Group!

Recipients of the parcel when the music stopped were delighted to find a gift of chocolate and part of the secretaries' report in poetic form:

"The year began with a crafty make of scissors wool and board

Lots of little shaggy gonks to be loved and much adored

Next up came circus Clare to teach us all some special skills

Tightrope walking, spinning plates - all sorts of spills and thrills.

As spring arrived we heard a talk ‘bout whales and dolphins too

How many things are done to keep them safe for me and you

Followed by a fireman’s tales supposed to makes us smile,

But the speaker was quite boring - a bit too much “old style”.

Summer time was way too hot for lively salsa moves

But by the end we all agreed we were a bit improved.

Then a chance to socialise and chat while eating lots of cake

Swapping thoughts on future meets, the things that we could make.

The Autumn brought the blood bike man who told heroic tales

Of saving lives all over the place with lots of great details.

We practised hard at self defence twisting each other’s arms.

But Theresa’s walk in the tunnel had us all in a state of alarm!

November saw us prepping for the festive season to come

Making decorations that required a big green thumb.

To end the year traditional party games and lots of food

An extra special raffle sent us home in a good mood.

A new year brought the sunshine vibe with Hawaiian hula fun

Lots of laughs and dancing - and a lei for everyone.

Last month we iced our cupcakes with fancy decorations

A very social evening and some fabulous creations.

It’s been another busy year - so much to see and do

The Belles go on from strength to strength because of me and you.

There’s so much more still in the plans we hope you’ll stick around

As we keep on getting better - our ambition knows no bounds!"

In other news, we're in good financial shape, have a fab programme for next year, and a new committee voted in for 2023/24 with a mix of old and new faces!

Hurray for the Committee and everyone in Pewsham Belles!
