April on Zoom

After our successful AM on Zoom in March, Pewsham Belles has taken to operating as a virtual WI like a duck to water. This was helped by the committee paying for a monthly licence and throwing it open for club leaders to use as well as for our main meetings. It really has helped to smooth things along as there is no 40 minute meeting limit. They are also exploring ways to keep in touch will all members irrespective of internet access; more on that anon. This month's meeting was a light hearted affair with members wearing all manner of hats; some even lit up as darkness descended and Fiona P quietly changed hers (and herself to her daughter Rebecca at one point) at regular intervals to keep us on our toes. Some members told us stories around little known facts about themselves. We had power boat racing; blagging a backstage pass at a Bryan Adams concert; and double jointed toes to name but three. After Clap for Carers Michelle then got out her quiz questions to keep our brain cells ticking over. Judging by the requests for the questions (to be used for team building sessions with colleagues or simply for fun with friends and family), this was judged a success. Our other virtual meetings this month included a coffee morning; weekly chats about online theatre options; and the Walking Netball ladies keeping themselves fit and in touch with each other. They also produced a fun video for the Pass the Ball Challenge showing all manner of inventive ways of receiving and passing along the ball. We've had makealong sessions too with Diane holding a paper rose making session for the Crafty Crew, plus poppy and bunting making ready for VE Day next month with Gill and the Happy Hookers.

The Creative Writers shared varied stories using the prompt 'The last time I saw Bland he was upside down' with some of them illustrated too. Finally the Book Club reviewed The #1 Ladies Detective Agency' the last library book they borrowed before Lockdown.
