Feet are really COOL!

We had an amazingly informative talk and demonstration for May's group meeting from TT Holistics. We weren’t expecting such a detailed demonstration being on Zoom! A huge thank you to Tamara for stepping in last minute. As well as her presentation, Tamara kindly demonstrated the key techniques on Jo's handy pair of feet - thumb (caterpillar) walking, thumb circling, hook in and pull back. We then applied some handcream to our own hands and Tamara showed us how we could give ourselves a little self-reflexology, including caterpillar walks and corkscrews. A lovely relaxed way to apply some self-care.

Elsewhere this month we've had weekly Zoom meetings on Sundays to discuss upcoming options for online theatre watching. Andrew Lloyd Webber productions in particular were enjoyed as well as our cheeky Zoom Bingo card. One of these discussions was combined with floral headgear to celebrate Garden Day.

We also had an afternoon tea Flexi-club to commemorate VE Day75. On the same day we released our Poppy Parade collage to show-off the poppies we've knitted and crocheted ready for the poppy cascade we'll be making with the other Chippenham WIs later this year (fingers crossed). The collage was also featured in the Gazette and Herald's tribute and the individual photos in Chippenham town's official video.

Our Committee had also held onto a delicious secret for a few weeks and finally delivered a care pack of goodies to every member at the start of the month. The card, chocolates, tea bag and seeds were very well received by everyone. There was also details of an optional task for an Our Town activity - keep a diary for one day on May 6th. More on that anon. Diane showed the Happy Hookers how to make a Royal Granny Square with great results, and Gill guided them on how to make crocheted bunting with several then making some ready for their home VE Day displays. A number of Pewsham Belles enjoyed several free Denman at Home workshops with delicious results - Millionaire's Shortbread, Low-sugar baking and an Asian feast. We hope these events from the college will continue well beyond Lockdown. The Book Club reviewed Phaedra Patrick's The Library of Lost and Found, while the Creative Writers shared their responses to the gateway photo and story cube dice prompts. All in all it was a very busy month with our diary looking almost normal albeit delivered virtually!
