Highlights of 2020

It can be tempting to dismiss 2020 as an "annus horribilis", especially as our chances to meet for most of the year have been limited to small groups or in a virtual world.

However, the new year offers the chance to look back and reflect on the year as a whole, and despite everything that's going on in the world we find there is still much to celebrate as a WI.

December's Mandala workshop caught many an imagination, with lots of Belles going on to create more of them. We all breathed a sigh of relief when we were allowed to meet at last - albeit in smaller groups - and enjoy each other's company at our garden parties. Our four care packages were well received and along with the monthly Spotlights emails they helped us to keep in touch with everyone... and committee members fitter in their role as posties!

Walking from conquering Pen y Fan through to more local ventures with friends has proved a huge hit, as did a tiny package of sunflower seeds which kept the fun and conversation flowing as they grew... taller... and taller... and finally unfurled their magnificent blooms.

We are firmly part of history now as the first edition of Lockdown Life was featured in the Museum's Covid-19 exhibition and its production also led to the magazine being featured on BBC Wiltshire radio. The multitude of poppies we made await their final unveiling as a joint Chippenham WI project, but our makers different take on wearing their poppies with pride led to them being featured in Chippenham's VE Day commemoration video AND the Gazette and Herald!

The 12 photos are just a snapshot of what we did last year, have a look at our latest and archive news pages for the full story!
