... oh what a show! It may have been part two of our Annual Meeting last week, but it was anything but stuffy as clever Kim had booked Clare's Circus for us to learn lots of different circus skills!
We welcomed Wiltshire Federation's Lesley Holdway to help us with the more formal part of the meeting, where we thanked and said goodbye to Kim (more in a later post), then welcomed our new committee, especially our new President Ann Mackie.
We came so close to suspension this year, so it was with absolute joy we welcomed Clare for a fun evening of juggling, plate spinning, diablo trickery and tightrope walking. Despite Clare's assurances, it's sad to say not all of us learnt to juggle in 10 minutes, but everyone had a good go before trying the other goodies on offer. Tightrope walking proved popular and it was good to see the Belles putting their trust in Clare and their friends to help them walk the rope.
We all agreed this was the most fun we'd had in ages!
Elsewhere this month Our Town visited the moving Covid Chronicle exhibition at the museum, then the Happy Hookers and other Belles put the finishing touches to their Joy of Community bunting pennants at Rivo Lounge. These will appear at the museum soon - more in a later post. The Happy Hookers then made a start on their next project - jubilee flowers to help decorate Seymour House, a care home at Monkton Park. Book club gave a positive review of Miss Benson's Beetle.
The Walkie Talkie reprised the railway path walk to Calne and tried a new venue for a yummy lunch, then morphed into the Boneyard Belles to explore Calne's churchyard. Finally, we organised the speaker for the John Aubrey Group meeting and were relieved when Jane Moore's talk on gardening for butterflies went down well.
