Pewsham Belles was saddened to hear that Ros Smith - one of our founder members -has died. Three members attended her funeral yesterday, where it was standing room only at the chapel. She was brought in to 'That's what friends are for', which was perfect for those who enjoyed her company in the Belles, as was the hymn, 'Jerusalem', chosen for Ros's varied activities with Chippenham and Calne WIs.
Fiona P led the tributes within our group on Facebook where she said:
"I’m sure, like me, many of you will have been very sad to learn of the passing of one of our original Pewsham Belles members, Ros Smith. Whenever I think of Ros I remember laughing - either at some wonderful tale she told us of Chippenham life or an “off the cuff” remark made with her trademark dry sense of humour. She was always cheerful and positive despite everything life threw at her and will be much missed in our group."
Lots of tributes and reminisces followed and are reproduced below. RIP dear Ros.
