We've been amazed at the success of Zoom for keeping our meetings and clubs going during Lockdown; a quick glance at the diary and it looks almost normal apart from the fact we're meeting in a virtual space instead of at Pewsham Community Centre. However, we're also aware not everyone wants to 'meet' in this way, so the committee came up with the fun idea of sending everyone a 'care pack' from time to time. The first pack contained a lovely greetings card, a tea bag for a virtual cuppa together, some chocolate treats, news of Michelle's 'Day in the Life' project for Our Town, plus some lettuce and sunflower seeds so the pack would be a gift that keeps on giving. After some problems with seed germination and pesky pests, we're now seeing lettuces being harvested and a sunflower taller than Pauline! The second pack contained coffee, puzzles, and a postcard for a relaxing colouring in session and then sent to a loved one.
We've been delighted at how well these have been received. We've had some lovely messages via Facebook and email and it's been great to put a smile on our members' faces during these trying times. It's a wonderful way to keep in touch alongside Zoom and the regular Spotlights email, and the Committee have had great fun being a postie on some of their daily walks!
