The Family Upstairs

It was great to catch up with everyone in book club this week and also welcome Kay to the group. This time we had a blended review of Lisa Jewell's "The Family Upstairs" via Facebook Messenger and Zoom. Michelle hadn't realised Lisa had changed genre's since she read her debut novel "Ralph's Party" and hated it, though she thought the author's

change from chick lit to psychological thriller was an improvement. Several members struggled with the three viewpoints format and the switches in the timeline, but still enjoyed the story enough to keep turning the pages.

This was one of the more popular reads we've had this year, scoring 8 out of 10.

Our next read is Lee Harper's "To Kill a Mocking Bird" on Monday 11th November at 7.30pm on Zoom. Note the new meeting day of the week.

NB Wendy is also looking for your next suggested reads ready for voting.
