There was no group meeting this month, but that didn't mean Pewsham Belles weren't up for get together, especially when it involves tea and cake in the garden! Fiona P kindly threw her home open to members plus their families and friends for a late afternoon tea and what a spread she laid on for us . There were both sweet and savoury treats - we all ate far more than we should AND took advantage of the doggy bags on offer AND there was still a table groaning with goodies left in our wake! Husband Rob kept the chimenea nicely topped up so we could enjoy a late summer evening on the patio and our latest WI honorary member (WInnie!) made a cuddlesome appearance. There was a serious point to the evening, with £170 raised in support of the Alzheimer's Society and Pewsham Belles WI. The raffle prize winners were Jenny, Marion, Pauline, Ros and Ursula. Elsewhere this month the Our Town group took the final set of photos ready for September's Group meeting; the creative writers made Mischief in the Library; and the book club found The Lost World hadn't really stood the test of time. Patisserie Valerie was the latest venue tested by our Flexi Group. The Crafty Crew were so overwhelmed by the amount of card making materials donated to them, they spent the evening getting to know each other a bit better instead. Going forward they are encouraging members to get themselves ready for bracelet making at October's group meeting by finding suitable beads and other threadable materials which can be upcycled into a sparkly new item of jewellery.
