From drag to gags

Two quick-fire, quite different rounds for our theatre qoers this week, courtesy of Fiona P's latest bookings... On Tuesday Bath Odeon cinema was the venue for an Encore theatre performance of Everybody's Talking About Jamie, the hit west-end musical. This is a show about a boy whose dreams lie in the world of drag artistes and the prejudices he faces to get there. Fiona sums it up better, "An excellent funny modern show, with a boy who could walk in 5 inch heels better than any of us!" Then last night , "A small but perfectly formed theatre group outing to The Cause to see the highly entertaining and very funny Instant Wit! Great to have such class acts performing in local venues." Taking their cues from location, dialogue, unusual jobs and other random prompts from the audience, the three players wove together two hours of comedy, mime, song and improvisation in the style of Mock the Week and I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue. Prizes were awarded for the best contributions from the audience. Next stop: a return to Abbamania at the Neeld Hall next month!
