Several Belles enjoyed various Story Town events in Corsham recently; none more so than our talented author Fiona P! An afternoon trip to Sanders Paintings & Sculpture gallery revealed lots of inspirational art for perusal. In fact, several felt they could have bought the entire gallery. A fine pig sculpture was purchased on the spot and other pieces earmarked as Christmas presents. Whilst there many items were photographed as potential inspiration for Story Town's 500 words competition. Fiona was also amazed to find that she already had a picture by one of the artist owners; one of Michael Sanders' atmospheric seascapes, which now hangs in her bathroom. In the end Fiona was the only one from the Creative Writing group to submit her story, and it was declared the winner! Her prize was £100 to spend at the gallery and she returned there with her mum recently to claim her prize. This was a special visit for both of them as Fiona's mum originally bought the Michael Sanders painting. Fiona's story is based on the pictured Cromer seascape from her native Norfolk, plus the Rock Poolers bronzes, which everyone had admired in the shop.
