Sometimes a gentler mud-free walk is needed and a look around Chippenham's blue plaques provides exactly that. It proved a popular walk with the Our Town group a while ago, and now there's a Google map available for anyone to explore these - on their own or as a group - plus the sites of various other non-blue plaques seen around town, such as the Eddie Cochran memorial and the start of Maud Heath's Causeway.
The map's claret stars are the blue plaques found on the town trail leaflet with the numbers in brackets as found on the leaflet. The purple stars are additional plaques added to the town since the leaflet was produced and includes the site of the latest plaque site earmarked for Florence Hancock. The orange stars are additional items of interest.
Click on a star or a title on list at the side and up pops a box which with a description what's commemorated there, some photos to help pinpoint the location, and links to further information. In addition there's a link to the trail leaflet (in pdf form) and also the Civic Society's website which has further information on the town's blue plaques. The trail leaflet is useful for anyone who prefers a paper copy to follow around the more centrally located plaques.
