The last Saturday in January brought a Zoom coffee time with a difference thanks to Wendy. As well as bringing along our favourite refreshments she invited everyone to bring along any crafting they'd been doing recently. Her request proved most popular, with 14 Belles in attendance and showing lots of talent with their chosen craft.
On the arts side, Mandalas are still popular after December's workshop, with several members attending follow-up workshops via Denman at Home and the WI Wanderers. The results from January's 30 Day Sketchbook challenge were also well-represented, as were the most intricate of doodles. Colouring-in also featured, plus mandala painting onto stones.
Needlecraft also proved popular with felted pictures, cross stitch, English paper piecing (from Wiltshire Federation's January's workshop) and shoulder bags the featured results, alongside several new crocheted pieces made by members of the Happy Hookers. A way of using up odd bits of yarn was also revealed by joining pieces of the same weight together to make scrap balls of wool ready for the colourful basket shown in the above picture.
Finally, Fiona ES revealed her talent for jewellery making, which started as a way of repurposing her broken pieces left in a bowl. During Lockdown she has sold pieces to friends to raise money for the NHS, and is preparing to open her own store on Etsy.
The time flew by and everyone agreed it was a great way to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon. Don't forget our Zoom account is available for any member of Pewsham Belles to host a virtual gathering of any kind.
NB The scrap yarn basket was adapted from this useful pattern.
