I'll bookmark that!

It was nearly standing room only at the Happy Hookers on Saturday, where easy and fine yarn bookmarks were the make of the day, a nice one to achieve in an afternoon.

One of the best things about our clubs is the willingness of the members to road test the latest crafting accessories. As you can see, Diane did a great job modeling Gill's magnifying crafting glasses. She did produce a lovely bookmark (as did everyone else - see below) so they must have done the trick.

Thank for hosting, Gill, it was a fun session.

We road tested two different patterns. Most went for the one in Dorling Kindersley's crochet book. This is two rows of double crochet (dc), followed by 5 trebles into each stitch aka shell stitch, with each set of 5 then anchored down using a slip stitch. Each dc row effectively forms one side as a foundation row. 51 stitches is the suggested start for this pattern; less may be needed if you use double knit (dk) yarn, otherwise the bookmark will be huge! We mostly used number a 2 or 2.5 mm hook.

Bella Coco came up trumps for the easy daisy bookmark as shown and tackled by Debs, who had some 1:1 tuition from Gill and was pleased with what she achieved on the day. Dk yarn and a 3.5mm hook are what's needed for this one.
