On the button

The Crafty Crew had a delightful time creating these button trees recently. It was a great opportunity to raid their button boxes and get creative! Diane sourced the cotton reels used as the base and various sources were found for suitable wire with various prices to match. Floristry wire from a local florist (with an excited florist demanding to see the results!) proved useful as did our local branch of The Works plus online.

Diane provided a useful guide to wire gauges - the lower the number, the thicker the wire. Sizes between 16 to 20 worked well for our makers. She also found a video tutorial showing the principles of the make using beads instead of buttons and a stone as the base.

Another simple make along similar lines is this floral button bouquet in a small glass jar.
