Woolly news from May and June

We've had a change of venue the past couple of months as Gill has had the excitement of a new kitchen coming to her house. With a good timing and agility we managed to nab the squashy sofa area upstairs at Rivo Lounge both times even though it was heaving with plenty of lunchtime customers, some of them extremely colourful on Chippenham's first Pride day in June!

Our latest chosen projects proved a little trickier than first thought. In May we tackled the cute cat included in our programme for the year. As you can see some have been completed with others left in various stages. June's heat led us to rethinking the chosen project for the month - blankets for Bath Cats and Dogs home was deemed far too hot! Instead we turned our attention to this year's Yarndale community project.

This project's easy looking triangular bunting also turned out to be a little taxing. The written pattern for the requested pennants took some figuring out and we struggled with keeping to the required size. Most of our makes are usually more free format, so keeping to what's needed is a relatively new concept! We're going to make 20 pennants between us and will supply the words Crochet, Friend and Skipton on these from Yarndale's list.

Michelle has also found another community project for us to join in. 2024 is the 80th Anniversary of D Day and there will be a huge display of woolly made scenes based on 'The Longest Day' film at St Mere Eglise in France. We will supply some items for the decorative 'skirts' around each scene, namely cornflowers (the French alternative to our poppy), flags of the nations involved in the D Day landings, and possibly some regimental badges if we can find patterns for these.

July sees us returning Gill's so we can admire her new kitchen and we'll continue with June's projects.
