Our creative writers each had a slight variation on the Mischief at the Library writing prompt taken from the local paper last time, but it didn't stop the flow of ideas. We had our first dip into Sci-Fi and an introduction to the intriguing b'aliens, plus our first romance rather than the usual dysfunctional relationships. We all agreed that the latter kind is much easier to write than happy stories! A ghost story based on the real library pictured above and an event there in 1914 rounded up our trio of quite different tales. We also returned to last month's passport and bridge prompts with a clever idea set in the near future of how the Irish border might work post Brexit. Beware realistic looking robots!
We're trying something new for September with a couple of picture prompts. We've also issued a challenge for everyone to have a go at writing an intriguing opening sentence over on our Facebook Group using these prompts (see left). Can you identify the famous three novels from their opening lines given as examples?
It was a cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen.
There was no possibility of taking a walk that day.
All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.
Our next meeting is at 7.30pm on Tuesday 18th September at Wendy's house. See you there?
