The textured wave stitch was the latest technique for the Happy Hookers to add to their repertoire. It's fairly straightforward to master as long as you keep counting! The version tackled - and there are quite a few on offer via the power of Google - has a four row repeat which offers the possibility of falling into a neat rhythm when stitching as long as the crocheter keeps an eye on where they are. For their sample piece the Happy Hookers chained 30 stitches + 3 extra ones and then used double, half treble, treble and double treble stitches in quick succession to form the elements of the wave. They were back on Zoom after last month's successful blended Zoom/live session because the weather was a bit iffy!
It can be quite hard to see the pattern when using a single colour, but Michelle was using a multiple coloured yarn which showed it up quite well. As Diane said, her result looked similar to marble cake! You can also see Michelle's scribbled notes for the pattern in the photo below.
The video tutorial used for this version of the wave pattern came courtesy of Bella Coco, which she calls the rolling wave stitch aka wavelength in other tutorials. She changes yarn colour so the pattern can be seen quite easily.
