Party in the Park

What a fabulous return to meetings! ‘Party in the park’ was a great success with John Coles Park proving the perfect venue for a relaxed get together under the shady trees during the recent hot weather. We had a fantastic turn out and it was so lovely to see everyone in 3D!

Gift bags contained a drink, paper straw and a scavenger hunt, with the added treat of ice creams for all. We greeted 3 new members who joined us recently: Margaret, Deborah and Michele, plus Roseanne who also joined during lockdown and several others who joined just before Covid-19 changed normal life for our WI.

It was Kim's first in-person meeting as our President and she said afterwards:

"The photos sum up what a summer evening should be all about!! So many Belles in one place after such a long time- just wonderful!!" and Fiona Plant added:

"So lovely to see old friends and new faces. You’ve done a fantastic job with Zoom meetings but you just can’t beat face to face Thank you to all involved for the little extras - loved the ice cream and the quiz was good fun - worth doing another day if you didn’t do it last night. A perfect evening."

For those of you who mislaid the scavenger hunt around the park, you can find it here:

It's been adapted slightly from the one given out on the night to make it workable for now. You will find the answers here:

Elsewhere this month Book Club reviewed "The Night Circus", which turned out to be a Marmite read and the Happy Hookers tackled Wave stitch. The Theatre Club had their first outing in over a year and enjoyed the fun and talented outdoor production of Robin Hood at the Holburne Museum. We also had not one, but TWO flexi-club meetups for coffee in town, with the second one also taking in the "Food, Glorious Food" exhibition at the Yelde Hall. At least one member took advantage of the walks around town led by the Museum as a more informal version of Our Town.

And perhaps most important of all, the committee checked out Pewsham Community Centre in preparation for our return there in September!
