The Happy Hookers made some cute rabbits aka Easter Bunnies this week, a mini amigurumi make which is designed to cover and hide Creme or Caramel Eggs.
On the whole we found it pretty straightforward to do, now we're well into our third year of crochet. The only tricky bit was finding the 'bumps' in the back of the chain when making the ears, but Gill and Wendy both had the top tip to make this part much less fiddly: just simply crochet round the edges. The other new aspect to this make was when the two parts of each ear had to be crocheted together, which was a bit fiddly in view of their small size, but quite straightforward overall..
If you fancy having a go, the pattern is here. Note the pattern uses US notation. Most of us used double knit yarn and a size 4 hook instead of the chunky yarn and size 5 hook given in the pattern. As you can see they fitted over the eggs just fine and we did speculate on how much smaller Creme Eggs are these days. Gill used a thicker wool and found her rabbit came out slightly too big instead of the snug fit of the others and we thought it would be better suited as a boiled egg cover, A potentially useful difference!
