Today marked the Crew's first in-person meeting since February last year and we welcomed Angela to her first meeting and Dinah to her first non-virtual one. It was great to get to grips with the needle case project held over from March last year, comprising layers of colourful felt ready for us to sew and embellish to our own tastes. It helps having a craft enthusiast and seamstress group leader who could lay on plenty of materials for us to use!
The results were the six cases you can see above with blanket stitch proving a popular choice for a contrasting touch. Inside more pieces of felt form the cases' 'pages' ready to hold the all important needles. Some Crew members also added a small pocket inside to hold a needle threader. Diane had also made a number of felt roses from her felt scrap stash which were used to add a pretty decoration. Some of these also had a secret practical use as part of the case's clasp.
All in all a lovely afternoon with plenty of chat and chocolate biscuits!
