What a lot we've got!

What generous and talented ladies we have at Pewsham Belles! Here's a selection of Innocent hats we've made and collected so far, with Sarah V and Gill deserving of special mentions for the numbers they've knitted. Gill went one step further by exploring the huge variety of novelty hat patterns available on The Big Knit website. Plenty of other Pewsham Belles were involved over the past few months and we've made over 50 hats. We'll continue to collect these ready to send off to Innocent in one go, so get those needles out if you haven't so far! There are plenty of ideas to inspire you, and the easy knits on the website are a very quick make and perfect for those small oddments in your stash. Don't forget that the proceeds of smoothie sales with hats later this year result in donations to Age Concern's alleviating loneliness initiatives. This is one of their major sources of income for these projects. In other knitastic news, we've created nearly 80 pom pom hats for the RUH's premature baby unit. They've been overwhelmed by the response to their appeal for colour coded hats last year and so have called a temporary halt on further donations. They use 5,000 hats per year, so our contribution is over 1.5% of the total needed, thank you ladies! Update: Great response from Innocent via Twitter when they saw those hats! "Not sure what we prefer, cookie monster or the battenburg octopus. They're all gems, and we're chuffed to bits with the lot of you. The Big Knit wouldn't happen without you lot, so thank you."
